Become a Lifeguard
Lifeguard Award
To become a Surf Lifeguard at East End (or any club) you must first pass your Surf Lifeguard Award (Bronze Medallion). To gain your award you must be at least 14 years old on the date of assessment and complete the following assessments:
400 Metre Swim in under 9 minutes (Pool)
200 Metre Run-Swim-Run in under 8 minutes (Sea)
Theory Test
NZQA 6402 (CPR)
Tube Rescue
Releases
If you already hold your Surf Lifeguard award, you must complete a Lifeguard Refresher before you can patrol and/or compete. Surf Lifeguard and IRB Driver Refreshers are run by Surf Life Saving Taranaki at different times and locations throughout the season.
