Junior Surf

Training Plan (click here)

Junior Surf is about developing tomorrow’s lifeguards whilst fostering friendships, confidence and safety through water skills and beach actives. The emphasis is on heaps of fun while improving general surf lifesaving knowledge.

The national Junior Surf program is designed for 7-13 year olds (based on the child’s age as at September 30). At East End we also accommodate 5-6 year olds via our “Nip Nip” program. A ratio of one child to one parent / caregiver is required for our Nip Nip sessions.

The summer program runs from November through to mid March with a short break over the Christmas period. Our Sunday sessions commence at 10:30am and finish at 12:00pm. Skills and actives include:

The children are broken into various age groups and are managed by trained Head Coaches, with the help of parents and caregivers who enjoy interacting with there children.

We also have full weekly training sessions for those interesting in gaining additional skills and/or training for various carnivals or national events. Dedicated sessions for Board, Surf Skills, and land based events are well attended. A full schedule of activities is made available on a monthly basis from the start of the season.

There are four Carnivals held throughout the season where the children get the opportunity to compete against the other Clubs. These events are all about having fun and showcasing the skills that have been developed.

East End SLSC also operates a Winter training program at Bell Block pool. This usually commences Mid May and runs right through to the end of November. This is an ideal opportunity to keep up the fitness over the cooler winter months.
